I don't think it matters how hot you burn pine, it will eventually clog the spark screen in the chimney cap. My basement was 95* when I went to bed last night :D

holymoly - that's the hexx i left behind when i moved back up here! honestly i'd b worried about house meltdown if it ever got that hot in my basement!

btw GC, i pm'd u on the fencing

and yes - at first i burned lotsa pine, now i'm more mixed w/ my wood-gathering obsession. but i learned 1st-hand the value of keeping the chimney swept, speshly if u run a few non-starters!

now my idea is... get the 2 sides fenced off for safety. maybe put on heat shields to protect wood pile on the one side and the couch/flinging pillows on the other, and really load up for the heat. last cool spell showed my current technique only offers 2 hrs of burn, so not a good overniter effort. of course, the efficiency on this 1983 stove is prolly about 30% if that. but if i shield the side effects from heat, i could prolly really load this baby up for more output. am also training dog to NOT need the doggie door overnite so as to minimize cold air influx from that. so far no bad effects on air transfer/depressurization - they're (doggie doors) not the tightest things ever made. speshly if it's a series of boxes vs the actual door 'seal'.

an ongoing experiment. but fencing first! btw - no need yet for the torch - hav one waiting for tryout. we'll see next coldstart!
