Here is an interesting comparison of Kenosha Pass - 1935-2017. I have been trying to locate the exact location of the "Kenosha House" to no avail. If someone knows it exact location, or better yet, have early photos, I would love to hear from you.

Was it related to the C&S railroad? You might be able to get some info or maps out of the Colorado Railroad Museum down in Golden.

I also found this on a model railroading discussion site:

Kenosha House was established by Charles Hepburn as a stage stop in 1861, pre-dating the railroad. Pages 10 & 11 of this publication ( http://bit.ly/2gZ1Kf5 ) provide excellent detail, including photos. I heard that the Lampings moved the building on a flat-bed truck down to Grant, and that it was remodeled to the Platte River Inn.

I tried to fin out where it was and came to the conclusion it was at the bottom of the pass where the old road/trail entered the park and then cut across through Jefferson to Hamilton and Breckenridge pass, so just to the right of the bottom corner of those maps.

Hwy 8, predecessor of US 285 came later, not there in the early RR photos

That is odd - it starts out for me:

An Updated Itinerary of Theodore L. Mead in Colorado in 1871, with Type Locality Clarifications and a Lectotype Designation for Melitaea eurytion Mead (Nymphalidae)
