I worked at the Hi-lander as a teen with a friend bussing tables. My Mom worked there as a server. I was at Evergreen High school and felt sick and fainted in art class. a big guy friend had to carry me to the nurses office, where low and behold there was my friend that I worked with, were were soooo sick. It was determined to be water poisoning as they made their cokes from a fountain machine using the water, which we drank lots of. This why my Mom did not get sick. I remember the bathrooms always being stopped up and flooded. The septic was leaking into the well, causing fecal bacteria poisoning. Many patrons became sick and filed a law suit and the restarant closed.
The septic is located across 285 and has been updated but beware of water quality whether it's your well or someone else's source!

The Hi-Lander is a place that I will forever remember as that is where my future husband and his parents and I ate lunch the day he proposed to me!

No, the intersection of 285 and 73 is where it was.
