Moving buildings today is a lot easier - and more expensive - than it was 60 years ago. This building - Dredge Office - was moved last Fall. It was destined for destruction. It will be rehabilitated and used to chronical the gold dredging and placer mining operations that took place throughout South Park.

It, along with the stone retort building have been at the intersection of 9 and 285 in Fairplay for decades. While moving the office was a piece of cake, the stone retort building was not. While we would love to be able to move it, the cost is prohibitive. I suspect once the property is sold, its next visitor will be driving a bulldozer. I have dozens of photos of them loading it. I didn't want to bore everyone more than necessary. :-)
