Definitely opinion. But, name ONE restaurant between Conifer and Bailey in the past 10 years that's hands-down better than your average Chili's. Regardless of cuisine, they're all average or below average.

OK. Back to the topic. Aspen Perk is very average.

I'll name one, mtree: Zoka's. It's pricier than Chili's, and that probably influences some people's opinion ... but as to food quality, Zoka's wins hands-down. I would also say that O'Malley's, in my opinion, rates much higher than Chili's. Again, just my my opinion.

On the whole, yes, the restaurants we have up here tend to be average at best. Given the population density up here and the closeness to Denver, I don't really think we can realistically expect much better. And that is why I am tickled pink that Zoka's has lasted all these years.

OK. I'll agree about Zoka's. Above average. They're kinda off the 285 corridor so I forgot, but they get my vote. Other than that...nothing. And you're correct, given the population density and the fact these are "bedroom towns", we can't realistically expect more. And that's ok with me. Sometimes all I want is an average burger or burrito for a average price. Oh...and cheap beer.

There is an auto mechanic by that name at the corner of Roland Valley and 285. I'm hoping that is NOT what he's is talking about.

I've taken the stance to let the establishment be another casualty. There's not a restaurant up here that I'd go out of my way to visit anyway. They're all average or below average. No biggy. I figure the more often they turn over the better the odds something extraordinary will open.

Think about this...Chili's was probably the best place up here since the Platte Canyon(?) closed.

Agree! Twin Forks is good (no breakfast) otherwise we head to Evergreen or town. We have had some spectacular turnovers here and they usually start out good, then fizzle. Some just never were that good. A new surprise is Crossroads and their new menu. A variety of choices and an effort to make them taste good. I have enjoyed our recent visits there.

Um ... that was what was called a senior moment ... which I am having way too many of any more. I meant, of course ... Madwell's! I don't even have the excuse that both start with the same letter. In fact, I have no excuse at all except to point to my dwindling number of firing synapses. I'll just crawl into my hole now.

Just to clarify, I don't consider Twin Forks in my list of 285 pinecam restaurants. It's only 5 minutes from C470 and actually located in Morrison. Although I haven't been there, I hear its very good. But, back to the topic at hand...if Aspen Perk can't get their act together, they will join the long list of average joints that have come and gone. I wish them well.

Is Aspen Perk still open for business? Driven by on numerous occasions at various times of the day, but they never seem open.

I am giving up on the Perk because I never know if my meal will be ok, or not. After a few good meals, I asked for pancakes and when I cut into them batter ran out on the plate! Who messes up pancakes? I should have complained but I don't like doing that. I imagine they could plainly see why I didn't eat them.
