Then you haven't been to any of the good places down the hill. There are many! Too many too list here. Besides, this is about Golden Stix, anyway. Their extra spicy doesn't rate "1 tick" for me. Most of the fare is fairly bland.

Then don't go to JJ Bistro and Sushi bar in downtown Denver i.e. "the best Chinese food in Denver". Inconsistent and spiceless. Their Mongolian Beef was about a 0.5 on a scale of 1-10 for spicyness. Stix is easily more tasty and consistent.

Also, mtree, keep in mind what may be a nice, spicy sauce to you and
I may be unedible, flaming-nuclear-napalm-liquid-pain to others.

Absolutely! That's why multiple reviews and opinions are important. Folks have varied tastes. Some love Stix and some don't. With such a big palette, eventually a good picture emerges. The best critics are consistent critics...whether you like them or not. I used to follow a food critic because whenever he liked a place, I did not! I could always count on his opinion.

I took my visiting parents here last night. I think 3 of the 8 plates our table used had quite large chips on them, not plates that you'd expect to be served from. At one point we had to wait for plates to get out of the dishwasher. Add in the finger prints all over the door, especially visible in the sun, and we were turned off even before our food came. I didn't mention the hair on my meal and ate it anyway. It was my first visit here and I was surprised and disappointed having heard good things.

I continue to be amazed when I read about bad experiences. We've been enjoying their food regularly since they opened & have never had a bad experience or food. Though have to admit when the chairs feel tacky it's disappointing, but not enough keep us away.

Very much agree, WFS... we eat there as often as I convince my daughter she really does like Chinese!

And, I think it just seems to get better, but that's just me.

Last take out was a disaster. Looked like bag was stapled closed then opened so they could take some of our food out. Should of checked before we left but we paid and didn't get most of what we paid for, and what was in there was not very tasty . To far away to drive back so we will not be ordering here again since this is the 3rd take out that was not up to par

I went after hearing good reviews about the place. I was told it was good authentic Chinese food. When I saw the menu, I realized I'd made a mistake (but was hungry and it was late). It's pseudo Chinese at best. The beef wasn't very fresh and the food was salty. Portions were healthy but not generous as I had heard (I guess it's relative).
I would rate the food a D if you're looking for good Chinese, B- if you like American Chinese

Does anyone else think Golden Stix and gone down hill? I gave always liked their food but over the last year or so I have gone there only to find the tables sticky, the menus sticky and the floors sticky. Makes me wonder what the kitchen is like. After avoiding it for several months, I went and picked up take out. My hopes were up when I walked in and my shoes didn't stick to the floor on the way to the cash register. One of the dishes we ordered was lemon chicken. When we got home, we found the sauce was not lemon sauce. Lord knows what it was but it looked like dirty chicken broth and tasted gross. My husband thought it tasted like cleaning fluid. Threw it out and made my own lemon sauce. I don't think we will be going back there anymore.
