We visited the Panda Garden the other day at Pine Junction. The owner told us they plan to work with a Denver restaurant, Thai Basil (6 locations plus one in Colorado Springs), to bring Thai and Vietnamese food up here.

While the place is currently up for sale, it sounds like that won't happen once the new food is added, which should be in the next month or so.

We were told the menu and prices should be somewhat similar to Thai Basil's...

Can't wait to give them a try! Hope the noodle bowls are good!

That's interesting.
We had lunch at the Thai Basil at Park Meadows.
It was quite good, if a little formal. Friendly with good service.
Prices worked for us.

It will be wonderful if they keep up the quality of Thai Basil.

There is a also Thai Basil on Ken Caryl that we eat at on occasion that does not seem to be associated with the others. It could be that one that could be coming to Pine Junction. It seems to have the "correct" atmosphere for up here.

:yeah that:

We love Thai Basil AND Spicy Basil, always a great fresh, clean taste.

We have ordered from both places for personal and for the office.

My thought is this would be a very welcome addition to the area dinning in/take out options.

We have more than (some very good) enough bar food and pizza around.

We currently do not visit Panda Garden.

The Panda Garden owner showed me a Thai Basil menu , but I'm not sure which store it came from (it was a mailer). I just picked the Alameda store menu since I thought it was closest to here based on my internet search. So there is a chance it is the Ken Caryl place, but I'm not sure. The Alameda menu looked kind of like what I saw, and the prices seemed close (about $7 for lunches, $9 for dinner). Anyway, specifically which Thai Basil we are talking about is still an open question.

Also, we were told Panda Garden will change their name. I didn't ask what the new name will be, but maybe it will become Thai Basil?

I also asked the owner if it's OK to let others know about this, and I was given a resounding yes. Hopefully it happens.

If anyone else wishes to ask the Panda Garden owner for more info, please let us know what you learn.

I'm curious - will the owner remain the same?

Yes, Heather and her family will remain the owners she is planning to take down the for sale sign. They will be preparing the food and had to purchase new equipment to do so.

Hope local interest, taste, and budgets can support them. I definitely will be giving them a try and wishing them well. Looking forward to the open.

Gonna be very interesting to see if the local 'tastes' will be able to keep them going. Thai and Vietnamese cuisine has become fairly common in Denver so it might work. Still, tough location for that kind of restaurant.

They will also continue to offer their Chinese cuisine as well.

I love Vietnamese noodle bowls and pad Thai. We will be sure to give them a try.
