The thread is not "gone" - in fact, you are posting in it. It looks like it was merged into the "Best Pizza?" topic - if you look at the title, it has this (Merged topics)

Actually, that's almost never a reason a restaurant closes (unless the owners are crooks). That's only a symptom, not the cause. Most places close because they're not profitable. There are many reasons a place isn't profitable, but that's the bottom line. Too much money going out, not enough coming in. Anthony's closed because it wasn't profitable enough. End of story.

Bummer. Guess I'll be grabbing pizza from town again!

Try the Pizza Joint in Marshdale, S Evergreen. They are open 11 to 11 every day. Owners extremely nice. Plus they deliver, again within a defined radius.

Sorry about Anthony’s though. They were imho much better than the Evergreen location. Maybe just going to a new
location?

I tried the Pizza Joint in Marshdale today and had a gluten free pizza that was great. I came up with my own combo and specific directions and they followed them exactly and everyone was so nice. Liked the crust better than most other places and so glad they are close. Plus who can resist good ole Rock and Roll and real pinball machine in the back.

Alrighty Mountain People, we just tried Crossroads again, terrible! What the heck, way long wait time, pizza came without the requested toppings, but oops we do't have this and that. A bunch of drunk local bar flies who seem to get the service. Had to request the so-called $4 off pizzas Monday night special after receiving bill. BOO! :bash:

We used to get great pizza from the place in Denwood Square. Might still be great, just saying haven't had one in over three years.

By happenstance I was in the area to try 285 Pizza recently...twice actually! The first pie was tasty although a bit overcooked. Parts of the crust were burned and the edges were inedible. The rest was fine. So I was cool to the final product. The second time was far superior. Cooked perfectly, the crust was thin, chewy, and just enough taste to not overpower the primary ingredients. Nice balance of cheese and toppings. Excellent Italian sausage. Spicy the way I like it. It was a superb and balanced pizza across the board! If they turn out a pie like this consistently I might even go out of my way to grab one on occasion. I now pronounce 285 Pizza the BEST pizza in pinecamland! Way to go.

Just a note, its takeout only and be prepared to wait an hour or more on Friday evenings. Plan accordingly.

For us semi-low landers (Indian Hills) it's been a double whammy because not only Conifer's Anthony's Pizza, but the Anthony's on C470 & Bowles (Zang St.) has also closed.

You could give Lil Ricci's a try. Its at C470 and Ken Caryl. Not much further than Bowles. They turn out a very good pie although their sausage is marginal.

Actually, we like Papa John's the best. You can order any toppings you want, any crust you want, and take it home to bake it any time you want. And you can add any toppings that you may have laying around in your fridge.(cheese, pepperoni, etc.). Very friendly people, too.
