Supposedly they inhabit and breed in the North Eastern United States and Canada!
Anybody seen these beautiful birds here before in the Bailey area? Sorry for the mediocre picture quality but I only had a split second through a window!

According to the dates I record in my bird book, I saw my first one in 1998; here at my place outside Bailey. After 2000 a nesting pair has returned every spring. Like the other woodpeckers, they like to drum on the metal strip around the top of my power pole. I have pics using a pocket camera which are not of good quality but enough to identify. Thank you for your photos!

looking further into this, I wonder if this is actually a William's Sapsucker and if so, it is right where it is supposed to be :hugegrin:
