I think it may be this fly (Bombyliopsis abrupta)between pupae and adult form.

It was resting on a flower and was maybe 1/2 inch in size, if that. I took a macro shot and noticed the eyes were crazy. I haven't been able to find out what it is, but I sure wouldn't want to make it angry.

According to BugGuide.net it is a "Paracantha culta - Paracantha" (a fruit fly) :nerd:
