We drove up the peak to peak highway to RMNP, through Estes Park, Grand lake, Berthoud Pass and Guanella Pass yesterday. By far the best leaves on that trip were on the Georgetown side of Guanella Pass where leaves are fully peaking right now. Not so much on the Grant side of the pass. Leaves were also in full peak around Grand Lake, but not so much around Estes Park.

Hiked up Abyss Trail on Guannela Pass Road a couple miles yesterday. The leaves are beautiful! They are really beautiful several miles back where the trail meets up with Rosalie Trail.

Tincup Pass was blocked off last year on the St. Elmo side.

ETA: Sounds like it is open all the way through!

Thanks for letting me know, RckyMtnCowboy.

You don't have to go very far to see colorful aspen leaves.
Take FR-101 just behind the KZ Ranch Estates by the THIRD (left off PC-43) entrance on Saddlestring Road.
4-WD is not needed as you only need to drive (or walk in) about 1/2 mile to see the best leaves.
(Seriously - take a car or truck with higher ground clearance if you drive in.)

Here is a sample as close as 3/10th of a mile in.

A "close-up" in the same tree.

About at 1/2 mile in you can see the aspen grove fully colored.

This was on Friday (yesterday) and there is a lot of color left to change and get better!

We were at RMNP yesterday, and the trees at the lower elevations were just starting to turn. We didn't get any higher than Horseshoe Park due to some sort of traffic problem just west of Lyons.

We went to Lake City and Creede yesterday. The colors must have peaked over the weekend, including Kenosha Pass. Kenosha is pretty with pockets of bright yellow.
