How about an Eastern Blue Jay stopping by to feed today!
Image

Spotted this bird checking out the suet feeders - but it was too nervous to come out from the cover of the aspens there.
A few minutes later it spotted the tray feeder and the black oil sunflower seed up on the hill farther away!

Here it has a seed in its beak!

Hope you enjoy him as much as we did - and hope to see more if he hangs around.

We saw one last year near downtown Bailey just once- it was eating our sunflower seeds.
Thank you for posting, such a beautiful bird.

ah yes, thick as thieves back in Jersey and pretty darn aggressive defending nests and fledglings as I recall. They wouldn't hesitate to dive bomb you walking under a nest.

I haven't seen a blue jay since I was back east. He sure is pretty and a great picture, BGR.

I've seen gray jays while hiking, deep into the National Forest but never one at my house. Do they come to anyone's feeders here?

Ha! Back in Jersey as a kid I was attacked by a mama blue jay just like that, when I got too close to her nest. A lesson that has stuck with me ever since.
