I haven't seen a fox on our place for several years now and the rabbits/chipmunks/golden mantle squirrels have run rampant.

But this morning, we had a fox on our deck, drinking from the water pan I put out for the critters. Here s/he is:

Not a great picture for sure but I am so glad to see a fox again.

(and as I am a gardener, I hope he's very hungry and a good hunter)

How cool! Isn't that fun (and a relief) when they make a comeback?

So nice to see one. I finally have one hanging around my house too but am keeping an eye on her as her coat looks fine but she seems very itchy. The last fox had mange so badly and I could not help her because she was too afraid of people. I hated that, this one is not shy at all so if I had to I could make sure she got meds.

I caught a gopher and she took trap and gopher. Left me a pile of fox poop, I never have found my trap. I will forgive her as she is ridding me of many unwanted critters. No coyotes no foxes for three years. Too many mice, voles etc.

As most of you all know, we lost about 70% of our foxes over the past 3 years due to mange. I have not had a call for a mange fox in almost a year. They will eventually repopulate but it will take many years. The ones that made it through will be healthier and hopefully somewhat resilient to mange. My rodent calls are up over 100%. Would rather have the foxes back!

I have a couple of foxes in my area still. I see them several times a week. But nothing like is was 10 years ago, with multiple sightings per day and all sorts of color combos.

Yes I too would rather have foxes than rodents.

I had a beautiful fox watch and follow me for a bit at the top of Conifer Mountain (Pauls Drive) two weeks ago. I felt so lucky to see it!
