This bush grows along the dirt road that I live on. It's a huge bush. It smells INCREDIBLE - and the bees love it. I'd love to plant one on my property. I can smell it from about 40 yards away. I always linger by it when I'm walking my dog because it smells so dang good.

Any ideas?

I agree, chokecherry.
ours has already bloomed and is forming cherries now. the birds won't even let them ripen anymore. and you are right, the smell is amazing! once ours finishes blooming, our lilac bush takes over. ahhhhhhhhh

I like to make chokecherry apple butter when the crop is good. I am happy to share recipe and techniques.

RE: Thanks Angela and MakMan!
MakMan, I'd love the recipe for that chokecherry apple butter!

Angela, I have a lilac too, but I didn't know it until this year. This is the first year that it has actually bloomed. Probably due to the lack of a late spring freeze this year. I live at almost 9000 feet, so we usually get a late freeze that sets everything back. Smells amazing!

We live at 9250 and this is the 1st year that it has bloomed in June. It is 28 years old and it normally blooms in late July early August. Love the smell.

everything seems to be about 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule this year. I am not complaining. I get to enjoy stuff longer
