I've got an excessive number of little brown caterpillars crawling around my driveway. Obviously trying to get into my warmer garage, 'cause I'll see a few in there as well. Can anyone identify them? And how would I control them? They're kind of messy to step on when walking on the driveway.

I've never had this problem and cannot imagine what they are. I hope someone can help you figure out what kind they are and what to do with them.

Is your driveway black topped (sealed)?

My asphalt portion is sealed. I see them mainly on the concrete pad just in front of the garage doors. Nothing recognizable in the caterpillar id website. Tonight, I take a photo.

My neighbor has this invasion as well. I've always just called these creepy crawlies, but I've never seen so many in one place. He just swept them off the asphalt using a push broom. We don't seem to have them on our side of the road.

I have seen some strange behavior with the Stellar Jays. They are popping up and down on a couple of patches of ground out back, day after day. I wonder if they have found a hatching of this crawlies, too? I'll climb out there tomorrow and poke around.

Here is a page showing the common bugs in Colorado. Maybe it's on there. About what do they measure?

They're about an inch long. Here's a photo with a car key as reference to size.

The segments aren't as clearly defined, but it looks like a moth of some sort.

Yes - these certainly look to be Miller Moth larvae - Army Cutworms. Those moths are very prevalent up here!
