The generic answer would be Geek Squad, but I would recommend some Googling first. Taking it anywhere will almost guarantee a sales pitch, while something short of a full-blown virus-like situation (or an older PC that has finally given up the ghost), you can likely revive it yourself.
Can you narrow down "problems" at all? Depending on what the PC has on it and whether it's non-replaceable data...you might be able to restore/reset the PC to an "open of the box" status, but that would clear anything like family/vacation photos and the like. With a description of the problem, the community here might have more specific suggestions on what to do to try fixing it yourself or who to take it to. |

I like Compu Medic located in Bergen Park -- next to Goodwill - Used them for personal & business for more than 15 years.

Not booting up is tough. Is this a desktop or laptop (should have asked earlier)? Depending on that, some troubleshooting might vary...
Assuming a desktop- First, the obvious stuff: check all the cables, they've not gotten pinched, come loose, etc. Try plugging in to another outlet (a long extension cord is a LOT easier than moving the PC!). Does anything at all happen when you try to power it on (fans spin, any lights come on or even blink, any beeping)? I assume things like monitors are working? If you plug in a device to charge via USB does they get power? Assuming a laptop- Are you sure the charger is still good (not pinched, crimped, etc.)? If you have a spare, try it to ensure it's charging. Can you remove the battery? If so, remove it, press the power button to discharge any linger power in the system, then replace battery and try to power on again? As with the desktop, does anything at all happen when you try to power it on? Is there any backstory on this non-starting? Was a beer spilled on it, was it dropped, was it behaving oddly prior, did you just receive an email from a Nigerian prince? |
