Just started smelling smoke outside - from the southwest it seems. Anyone know of any issues?

There was a small grass fire earlier today about 3 acres but that was fully contained at 6 PM today. Location was about 3 miles east of Jefferson. You might be catching whiffs of that.

FD is chasing smoke smell near Broken Arrow. So they're following those leads.

Thanks all. Broken Arrow is east of us. We'll keep an eye (nose) out for now.

I can smell the smoke here too on the mountain; but then the wind seems to be blowing every which way today.

There are 3 fires burning in western CO at this time, and flow aloft is from the west so we are likely getting some smoke from these fires.

As mentioned there was a small grass fire 3 miles east of Jefferson yesterday. Smelling smoke can mean many different things as in distant smoke covering an area, a neighbor smoking meat in a closed device or a neighbor with a small campfire. If you smell smoke, look around your area to see what is evident.

That is what I kind of though wxgeek... It still amazes me how far smoke can travel.

Yes as has been said the winds make all the difference on how this gets distributed. Been up here 37 years and it always pays to be cautious, hence the original post.

Blessings to you all.
