This could also be why it is so hazy and appears smoky here. Earlier, I received a code red as informational only regarding it looking smoky, saying it was from the Durango fire. Just saw this about a new fire in summit county, a bit closer to our area. They said they evacuated two neighborhoods :(

If everyone prays/wishes/hopes/‘however you do it’ for rain all through Colorado, just maybe we will get some.

Oh, dear! Here's what I found so far:

Quote:
Summit Fire and U.S. Forest Service crews are responding to a 30-acre wildfire on Buffalo Mountain, near Silverthorne.

ETA:
Quote:
The winds are strong so the fire will grow quickly and move quickly towards I-70. Smoke is already drifting over the interstate. If the fire gets close enough it might have to be closed. Stay tuned to @DenverChannel for the latest updates!

One more:

Quote:
The #BuffaloMountainFire is estimated at roughly 30 acres right now, and it is sending out embers that are setting spot fires within 250 feet of structures in Wildernest.

Thanks for the link, mtn60. Do you know how many residents were evacuated?

News media this morning reporting 1400 homes evacuated which means probably more than 2000 people.

Everyone probably knows this, but the fire is now contained :) Hopefully we can stay that way for the rest of the summer.
