I saw a bit of color at Staunton today.

Another sign of fall is the end of the 285 Boat and RV show.

We didn't have winter the last couple of years! I hope it is a long snowy one this year!

I had one of my dog's at the vet this week and I commented that I miss winter, since we didn't have much of one last year. They looked at me like I was loony toons. I do love winter - having the wood stove going and watching the flakes fall. Colorado hygge.

I still have Robins. They were splashing in the bird bath yesterday: maybe washing off and preparing for their long flight??

The Swifts were here yesterday; however, today there is no sign of them. I can only assume they have started their migration. I looked in my nature notes that I maintain and they did not leave until the last days of August last year. So they have left a lot earlier this year.

On a positive note, I have my first sunflower blooming. I did not plant it. I believe it has germinated from all the years of sunflower seeds dropping to the ground. It is growing right beneath where the bird feeder hangs. And, a second one is growing nearby it.
