Thank you to everyone for your kind words and warm thoughts here and in your PM's. We had the service for my father yesterday and enjoyed having family and friends share memories of my dad and to celebrate the wonderful life he lived. That is how I will remember my dad, through all the wonderful times we shared over the years. He truly was an inspiration on how to be a dad. One last story I shared yesterday at his service that gives you a sense of his being. When my brother and I would get in trouble, my mother would send us to our room and tell us to wait until your father gets home for your punishment. So my dad would come home from a long day at work, and go into our bedroom. He would then ask, ok what did you guys do today ? We would tell him,. He would ponder and say, well that wans't so bad, then he would tell us;, "ok, I'm gonna bang on the desk here, you guys give a good yelp to make your mother happy, then we can go have dinner". Ans one last classic picture of my dad at his brothers home in New Orleans that captures my dad (hopefully no one takes offense)

What a great picture memory for you. He sounds like a great father and a wonderful man.

Don't keep those picture memories in a box, take them out and experience them again occasionally. It keeps those memories alive.

Sorry to hear of your loss, wxgeek. 90 is a ripe old age, but it can still hurt to lose such a close family member at whatever age. I trust he will still live on in you.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad.
It is nice that you all were able to gather together and talk about memories and what he meant to each of you.
The pictures are great!

i'm so sorry, wxgeek
the excruciating pain will subside sometime, but never the memories - they will be with you, as will be the love,
always the love
