With spring just around the corner ( ), I have some warm weather projects and activities on my mind. Have you thought about it?

Please humor me. This is how I cope with more upcoming cold!

I want to go to Crested Butte for July wildflowers. To the San Juan mountains in September. Maybe replace a ceiling (except for the $$). Maybe replace the deck (except for $$$). What we really need to do is just replace the whole house and call it a day (except for the $$$$$$).

What about you? Please elaborate!

This year, I am so ready for warmer weather! I am already tired of hiking in the snow or on hard ice and would like to see the ground again. Plans:

Hiking - last year due to an injury, my husband and I did not do most of our regular high country hiking trials. So this year, I would like to get to Shelf Lake, Gibson Lake, Rosalie Trail to the pass, Roosevelt Lake, Bear Tracks Lake (if open), 3 mile, Rosedale Peak, Top of Ben Tyler in the fall.

Find and try at least two new high country hiking trails.

Hike at least one 14er, even if it's only Sherman.

I've got several 3 x 2 foot troughs for flowers and plan to have a lot of potted, flowering plants on my deck. All colors. Rabbits, chipmunks, ground squirrels, and Deer cannot get up there...

Smaller vegi garden with potatoes, lettuce (how I miss my summer leaf lettuce!), herbs, and a few Oregon pea pods and climbing yellow wax beans. I might plant the unused beds with an annual wildflower mix just for the color.

I have some perennials down next to my vegi garden I've been planning to move to a permanent bed down there. This year, I'll create that permanent bed and get some more flowers and perennial vegis to fill in and to overwinter.

I have a rock garden I've been meaning to finish for years. Maybe I'll get to it this year.

We've talked about getting a hammock for several years. This year I will and will spend the cool mornings out in the forest, swinging in my hammock, reading my iPad.

Something useful, we need to stain our deck this year (hmm, this will be difficult with all the flowers...) and fix some of our siding.

Like TillerBee, I'm excited to start our garden. We had an awesome garden last year here in Pueblo.

And YES - miss my leaf lettuce! We were able to do 4 plantings of LL last year along with 2 plantings of herbs - all from seed. We had the most delightful basil.

We were pretty successful growing watermelons last year, so we're going to try cantaloupe this year as well.

We made refrigerator dill pickles for the first time last year and they were soooo good. We didn't event plant cukes - they came up on their own. We had 2 plants and we refrigerator-canned 16 jars of pickles. We blew through those jars before years end. We're excited to simply plant cukes this year.

Potatoes were sooo good so, looking forward to planting more this year.

I guess it just boils down to.................anything outside - flowers, veggies etc.

We will enjoy the summer birds and continue mitigating....
Unless, of course, monsoon is vigorous and starts in May. In
that case we will mushroom hunt until we drop. :O)

Our plans are radically different this summer: we'll be in the midst of an interstate move to Tennessee, leaving snow behind and returning to humidity (ugh).

Dang Keg, sorry to see you move. I do hope you'll drop back in for the occasional argument!
Best wishes

I'll take the snow any day! The heat and humidity is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!

Yeah, it's not a move we're really looking forward to, to be sure. But family comes first.

AL is right. Keg, hope your move is smooth and you find Tennessee more pleasant than you expected, but also hope we don't even know you are not in Bailey anymore and you keep posting. Colorado isn't going anywhere, so you can always come back :)

Not sure what we will be doing when the warm weather comes, but I sure enjoyed TB's plans :) I picked every option on the poll, because we will probably be doing a little bit of everything.

Fun topic AL, nice to hear people's plans, because it may give us ideas :)
