Plan to Kill Colorado Mountain Lions, Black Bears Prompts Lawsuit Against U.S. Fish & Wildlife

https://www.ecowatch.com/colorado-mountain-lions-black-bears-2544953107.html

My question is why not allow hunters to do the job for free and pay us to do it.

I wonder what our wildlife guy who posts here has to add?

I think that instead of killing those gorgeous cougars and bears they should be humanely trapped and released into Denver where the WildEarth Guardians are based so that they may enjoy seeing these animals in their neighborhoods. ;)

The multi-year plan to kill black bears and mountain lions in the Piceance Basin and Upper Arkansas River areas of Colorado is intended to artificially boost the mule deer population where habitat has been degraded by oil and gas drilling.

Other questions are:
What about the oil and gas drilling has lessened the mule deer population?
Bear and mountain lions will adjust their ranges to prey density - so why is tax payer $$ needed?
What about the Aspen - they need a break from the deer.

Absolutely! No dear, the predators either move or they too reduce in population. Wow, why not let Mother Nature make that determination. There are so many factors that impact wildlife population density.

Also I’m a full supporter of responsible hunting. But why not reduce the hunting licenses for mule deer for a few years in the areas of reduced populations and reasses at that point. They won’t do this because Colorado Parks & Wildlife would loose money. So they turn to taxpayer dollars for no reason.

In a couple years, there will be an overpopulation of deer, again, and the efforts will be to restore lions and bears.
