Some of the videos out on steam bending are really kind of cool; that is why we decided to try it. If you do try it, it would be interesting to hear how you fare. My husband used to do a lot of turning, but hasn't done much for years now. Work and life get in the way.

Here's a photo of the shelf (really its a low platform or base to keep the object it will display off the floor itself), but its just the preliminary stages, not remotely close to done, so its really nothing to see. It was interesting to try the vinegar/steel wool mixture on the plywood along with trying the steam bending though. You can see there wasn't too much the cedar strips had to bend.
