I'm curious about celebrating the 4th at Lions Park in Golden. Sounds like all they have is kid things and food. Do they have other booths? I'm wondering what you do with the kids between the time when the booths close and 9:00 comes around.

I haven't been to Golden for the 4th in many years, but when I did go it was always a good time for kids. They have a playground with slide and other climbing stuff at the park, and also a large pond where there were radio-control boat races. I remember lots of room to run around, play frisbee, tag, etc.

They used to have live music, not sure if they still do.

The appeal of glow toys is probably still popular... They had vendors there for that. Once it started getting dusky out the kids would activate their glow jewelry and light up toys and dazzle each other with all the spinning colors. The anticipation of fireworks and the novelty of playing outside at night made the kiddos giddy and hyperactive. Total strangers became instant playmates and everyone went home tuckered out.

There were of course a lot of frequent choruses of "Are the fireworks starting soon?! I want them to start nowww!"
But when they actually did start, the shows were good ones. I was surprised by the high quality and long duration, seeing as it's a small town show and not a big city extravaganza.

It's especially fun if you go with friends, but it was also easy to socialize with strangers. The food for sale was good, and we also brought coolers with our favorite drinks, snacks etc.

If it's the same type of festival as it used to be, I think you'll enjoy it.

Thank You Baileybrat, from what I was reading it sounded just like you explained it. Thanks for your insight.
