Hi mountain folks,
I'm in Jeffco and I just noticed the neighbors are having a fire. Considering the dryness, burn bans, and nearly a dozen wildfires burning in our state, what's the best course of action here? Should I call this in? If so to whom?
They're making me crazy nervous. Any thoughts and info is appreciated. Thanks!

Call the JeffCo hotline at 303-271-4999. It's for fireworks but this should apply. Or call the regular number at 303-277-0211. Please do this ASAP. With the wind like it is, time is of the essence.

Thank you, thank you! I just went out, checked again with binoculars (my dinner's cold now), but fire is out and they've gone inside. I'm neither on friendly nor bad terms with them, though with a stunt like that, they're creeping towards the latter. I'll be watching them close the next few dyas. Can't believe people are being such boneheads still!

I would still report it to the Sheriff. A visit from the Sheriff Dept. is in order. Could it have been a propane fire pit? which is still illegal, if I understand the situation. (plz correct me if I am wrong). Just reading the Jeffco Fire Ban, a propone fireplace is allowed...in that case, if portable, hope it was place on a area of no grasses or other low growing flammable forest "stuff".

Ditto that ... although you shouldn't trespass to confirm, if you do not know them. I'd still call it in and let somebody official confirm that it is out.

Called it in. Elk Creek Fire and Jeffco are looking into it. Just drove past my place to the neighbor's place.

Two new fires this evening, one in Deckers...

I'd dial 911 if it was my neighbors.
