Yeah, its quiet and easy at 0230 Wednesday morning. Try it on a weekend or the dreaded big three, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. It would be nice if they all stopped in Conifer but they don't. Rather than packing a sandwich to turn north on 285 on the weekends to get groceries I get all my supplies early in the week and hole up for the weekend now. I'd like to hack the warning signs near Morrison and Richmond Hill to say "Turn Around We're All Full Up."

Let's not forget the leaf lookers, you're hostage in your home in the fall too, no quick trips down the hill on the weekends.

It took 3 hours to get home from Frisco yesterday coming back 285, and spent 2 hours of that from Kenosha Pass to Conifer. The sad part is that is was likely faster than coming home I-70.

I'm surprised it only took three hours. It took us 42 minutes to get from Aspen Peak Winery in Bailey to the Burland turn-off at the top of Crow Hill. We almost never go out on 285 on the weekend and, once again, I remember why!

Wow - when was this? I came from Leadville and it took only slightly longer than 2 hours to get to Shaffers via 285. It seemed that traffic was lighter than normal with the only slowdown from the top of Crow hill to the idiot light which was maybe 5 minutes. My trip was from 10:30 to 12:30.

Although it's getting worse all the time, it was never great on the weekends, and the cardinal rule still applies...
"Never try to leave Denver on a Friday, never try to go to Denver on a Sunday."
And until 285 is four lane from Denver to Fairplay, it will only continue to get worse. The lane choke downs on
Shaffer's Crossing are endless bottlenecks, along with the stoplights at Pine Jct. and the 43 turnoff on Crow Hill,
the latter which was designed not for traffic flow, but business access, when there's already an overpass a bit further
toward Bailey that handles exit/entrance traffic in both directions for local traffic.

Ah, a nice quiet drive on tranquil US285, not like that nasty I70.
