Was just checking traffic before heading home and noticed this:

ROAD CLOSED 285 N
US 285 Northbound Morrison Rd - C-470 Morrison (Milemarker 248-250)
US 285 NB will be closed Sunday 9/16/2018 for police activity starting at 7AM. No estimated time of reopening.

Anyone know anything more?!?

Link is CDOT

Thanks for the heads up. MM 248 to 250 is between Hwy 8 and C-470 on 285.

Can we get from US285 northbound to HWY8 to get to Morrison? It's hard to tell from their map.

My guess is that it is something to do with the construction activity happening at the entrance to that new development going in right before the hogback on the right (as you head to Denver). Either that, or it is a conspiracy on part of the Morrison cops to generate more revenue by diverting 285 traffic through Morrison proper.

I asked Jon Everhart, Lieutenant of the Jeffco Sheriff Department Patrol Division, what was going on. He sent me an email with this answer: The Colorado State Patrol along with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and an unknown defense lawyer will be conducting follow-up on a 1st degree murder case that occurred along that stretch of the roadway in 2017. I have spoken to the CSP Captain that is in charge of the Golden area and he believed this would not be a complete road closure but only a lane closure for the safety of those investigating the incident.

Are they going to detour some of this traffic ??
I can see a traffic jam with everyone coming back from leaf looking.

It doesn't take an investigation to detect that the planning of this to happen on a Sunday is just plain stupid.

Likely that there is no day that a closure is convenient for anyone. The thought may be that its the path of least resistance to impact weekend warriors and leaf lookers returning home rather that those of us trying to get down the hill on a weekday. Just thinking...
