It's advertising the new liquor store in the Kings Valley shopping center.

I sent a message over to District 4 Road and Bridge and asked them about it.

I agree with the OP and several others. What an eye sore! "Welcome to Conifer". "Buy our booze". The fact that it is allowed to remain on highway right-of-way that technically belongs to all of us is appalling. The trouble is CDOT refuses to deal with roadside clutter like this so it becomes a "legal" advertisement. Likewise the giant inflatable beer bottle, that far exceeds any allowed permanent signage, will continue as long as they deflate it occasionally making it "temporary".

Not true.

Reference the sign code for Jeffco. https://www.jeffco.us/DocumentCenter/Vi ... PDF?bidId=

"The following types of Signs are expressly prohibited
in all districts unless specifically permitted in a
Planned Development (PD) District.
.
.
.

4.Billboards, Off-Premise signs, and Pole Signs.
.
.
.

The key is "Off-Premise" even if you didn't call this a "billboard."

In addition, there are rules on wheeled signs like no more than 12 square feet and use of public right-of-way.

Ridiculous is when people do nothing about something they are not happy about or are passionate about.

I was made out to be a fool, because I confronted an inconsiderate couple that parked in front of a gas pump not filling up whereas there were people waiting to fill up three cars deep within this gas station. Not only were they not apologetic, but they made me out to be a fool for calling them on it. I would do it again, amazes me that some people think they are the only ones that exist in this world.

I called Jeffco sheriff about this before Labor Day weekend. Within 30 minutes I received a call from an officer who visited the truck when it was located north bound on 285 approaching Richmond hill (Shout out for quick response). He stated that as long as it did not block traffic views there was nothing he could do. I inquired about the tickets State Troopers assign for disable vehicles and he explained that only "abandoned vehicles" are ticketed. Based on our conversation other businesses could do the same. Count me out as a customer. I think the liquor store needs to determine if they want local support for their business or tourist $$. Will be a slow winter if they rely on tourists.

Maybe I can park my car there for a few weeks also.
It is a big eyesore.. I hope it's removed soon..
We suffered enough.

Maybe you should visit the store and talk to them and ask them about it rather than just grousing about it online. If you were to do so, you would learn that Jeffco essentially forced them to do this in order to keep their business afloat for now. They will not allow them to have road signs until they can prove that a sustantial majority of their business comes from outside the zip code. Stop in, talk to them, they're nice people AND our neighbors now.

I feel deeply saddened, and sorry for, for all who believe they have "suffered" from this attempt at advertising....

That aside, and I may be wrong, but I haven't seen the store reach out here on Pinecam to introduce themselves, or perhaps post about a sale or special promotion they might have, but that's their prerogative. Regardless, I have been in the store and they seem like a really nice group of folks. Starting up a business isn't easy and due to that location, they already have a challenge in generating business. There have been days where I've gone somewhere else because I didn't want to deal with the KV intersection.
