SERIOUSLY, Pinecam was founded as a chat room by a few friends who were mushroom enthusiasts. They added some local cams and became the best source of news and information in the area. While the major local TV stations said very little about our fires in the 2000s, local members had up to the minute information of the happenings from scanner monitoring, and word of mouth. An exceptional weather forecaster, wxgeek joined the team to give pinpoint reports for the area. They became the critical source of information for members and guests, alike. Things blossomed from there.

We are to thank Wayne Harrison for starting this whole, life-saving site!

Happy Birthday, Pinecam!

So what was all that crap about the pioneer photos and wagon trains and coal miners and inviting people to continue the story??? Y'all are about as fun as a skunk under the front porch. Next time just tell the damn story in one paragraph like you just did. Cripes.

AL is absolutely correct. I happened to be with my National Guard unit in Wyoming when the Hayman Fire came through. The only way I knew what was going on was from updates and cams on Pinecam. Thanks to all who make this site so successful!

You'd think that after writing the first sentence you'd realize - "Hey - maybe I need to go back to bad and wake on the RIGHT side this time". Yikes... :yikes:

My pleasure. That's the most I've laughed in a long time from the responses.

And the mushroomers argued over who got the mushroom spawn from the mines (which they called Celium) so they could grow more.

One said, "It's MY Celium!"
Another replied, "No, it's not. It's MY Celium!"
"Are you crazy?" another asked. "It's really My Celium."

And that's how the site orginally came to be called Mycelium. :animated laughing:

Happy 25th Anniversary, Pinecammers!

In the mid 90's I was living for the past 5 years in Texas. I could no longer stand the heat (raised in Colorado weather), so I was contemplating where to move to. Back to Colorado or elsewhere. I did a search of all the area's I was interested to move to. One of those links was Pinecam, all I remember is the Pine webcam and had the weather on it too, can't remember. Anyway, I would always go check out the webcam and I think that had a lot to do with me coming back to Colorado, only this time I wanted to live in the mountains.

Thanks for creating the site Wayne,
I think I made the right decision.
Heidi
