The last post from him was yesterday when he said he was storm chasing in OK today and tomorrow. Anyone heard from him to know if he's OK?

He may have picked the right time. OK, OK is indeed having a lot of thunderstorm and tornado warnings tonight! It is probably a lot easier chasing tornadoes during the DAY, though!

Thanks for the concern, but I am safe here in Oklahoma. It was a pretty wild chase day yesterday, with multiple tornado warned storms and many supercells to chase. As often happens storm chasing, we diverted from a storm that eventually became a long track EF3 tornado, so no actual tornado pictures. Still saw some very cool stuff, and drove back through an amazing lightning show, was pulled over by a trooper wondering what the heck we were doing out driving in such a mess, and hydro planed several times driving through pouring rain. Some areas of OK received 6-10 inches of rain yesterday/last night, so lots of flooding. Here are a few photos from the chase.

Wxgeek, are these supercells the result of a boundary between the unseasonably warm weather in the southeast and the unseasonably cold weather in the western plains/mountains?

You don't need unseasonable temperatures, just different temps. Winds from three directions, gound, mid-, and high levels are effective at kick starting rotation.

Supercell thunderstorms form when there is a good boundary between warm air on one side and cool air on the other, and then good vertical wind shear to get storms rotating and instability in the atmosphere to support deep vertical growth. Spring is usually a good time of year in the central and southern plains for this combination.

Those pictures are incredible. Can't imagine what it must be like to experience seeing the onset of those storms forming. They are mezmerizing.
