Does anyone know what is going on on Shelton Dr? I thought it was fire mitigation but now Park County is pushing dirt around. With the snow some areas have been mud pits.

They are going to chip seal Shelton, starting next month.

Yep, that's good news and bad news.

I'll relish the dust reduction and less wear&tear on my vehicle. Oh yeah!

But dang, the speed of traffic is already insane, with a**holes driving 50+mph in a 20mph zone. So how fast are those jerks going to drive once Shelton is paved?? 75mph???

Living on Shelton will become far more dangerous than it already is. This is a serious problem, IMO.

I hope the Sheriff's department will crack down on Shelton speeders and ticket EVERYONE who drives even 1 mph faster than 20 mph. That could be a HUGE source of income for the department, because 99% of people who drive in front of my house are far exceeding 20mph.

I hope the county plans to put in a bunch of speed bumps. :praying:

CookN--that was my thought exactly--that they should add speed bumps--lots of 'em. The ChipNSeal is a great choice for extra traction, but it's about time we stop these maniacs who come flying around the curve and spray dirt all over the people trying to get their mail. They create even more washboard than before. The dust and dirt they help kick up (along with wind) clog the locks on the mail boxes too. And I wonder how long it will take for speeding cars to tear up the sealant so that we will have clumps of asphalt flying around? Not to mention that several cars wind up in the lake outlet ditch every year and have to be towed out. How many times have slid out of control and knocked down the street sign? Makes it kinda hard to give directions, so sometimes we even have to make our own sign. Bah! Humbug!

Thanks for voicing your concerns too.

Yep I agree, there are a bunch of "out of control drivers" that are going too fast to make the turns. About once a month someone crashes onto my property trying to make one of the turns. Most accidents are minor and they are able to drive away. A handful wreck their car enough to need a tow. But several times a year it is serious with cars flipping over and needing an ambulance.

I wonder if there is a way to get our concerns to the county in a manner that could actually make a difference?? That department won't listen to me anymore as they consider me a nuisance (I frequently call to complain about what they are doing and it makes no difference at all).

I hope they lower the speed limit to 15mph. I think speed bumps every 50 yds or so would help a lot. They can easily be designed to be compatible with snow plows.
If they want my engineering services, I will provide it free of charge!

Park County will monitor and police it periodically after its paved if there are enough concerned citizens calling in. Numerous complaints were made about speeding drivers on 47 coming into Harris Park before the Sheriffs office finally parked a patrol at the lake. Many tickets given out. It seemed to help slow things down a bit, at least for a while. Just stay on them. Especially with Shelton. Lots of blind curves and steep terrain. Its also likely to become a preferred short-cut to Harris Park and will increase volume significantly.

Add even more curves, speed bumps, and "neighborhood calming" medians. And tickets. Lots and lots of speeding tickets.

I agree but they actually plan to make the curves more gentle. Ugh! That's why they are removing so many trees.

I didn't think about the effect of speed bumps on snow plows. Some wise person (Probably SHELDON) once said "Every solution creates new problems." It would help to remove the Shelton cutoff from GPS, which is totally wrong in its description anyway. :praying: :praying: Oh, I got it. If we all call GPS and report current directions as false, and describe how to take PCR47 instead, we could get many idiot drivers to take a pleasant, smooth ride instead of Shelton cutoff.
