What a great question, krm18! It has gotten so complicated these days. In short, we try to buy organic produce. We also avoid 98% of all process food and buy "real", whole food: meats, eggs, milk / yogurt from a farm, fruits and veggies, butter, cheeze, nutes, etc. We'll buy some noodles and every once-in-a-while, some gluten-free bread. It is definitely more time-consuming, but much of what they sell in the grocery store is not even food anymore. 8O We'll also buy treats like coconut water, baker's chocolate with nothing else in it, some natural pizza and tortillas at Vitamin Cottage Natural Groceres, etc.

Wishing you great success in your desires!!

FreeInHim, thanks for your response. You definitely are doing what I lean towards, though haven't been able to get there yet. I buy some organic and some not. Its definitely complicated trying to make good choices when a lot of the rules keep changing and labels lead me astray! I make gluten-free bread in my baby breadmaker on occasion and sometimes use a gluten free baking mix, but mostly stay with whole grain at this point.

Definitely time-consuming trying to figure out recipes and cook "healthy". I have even got my husband to tolerate watching a cooking show while we eat lunch so I can garner ideas for recipes that I can modify to fit my definition of healthy. :)

Awesome! I agree: it is much more complicated these days. :) Just stick with what is food by itself and was not changed and you'll be on a much better path. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
