I have a self cleaning oven but it scares the bejesus out of me and I don't use it

I love my self cleaning oven. Turns all that splatter into volcanic ash. Just wipe away with a damp cloth when the oven is cool.

I used my self cleaning all of the time when the oven was electric. I have gas, and it scares me. Anyone with a gas oven, self cleaning?

My oven is gas. I had electric back in England and I confess I don't like cooking with gas anymore. but the self cleaning part works a treat.
