I would agree with you, Julie. This might not be the weekend for me to start my hiking.

Jo H,
You could join Park County Search And Rescue, you will get to see a lot of trails........many of them in the dark.

You know, as fun as that sounds, I'm not sure I'm up for that kind of hiking yet.

I have tried to watch the Conifer Newcomers site since I knew we were moving here, but the problem is they hike during the week, and I work Monday through Friday. That's why I wanted weekend hiking. When I retire on a few years I will be all over that site.

A new Facebook group just formed - called 285 Outdoor Women. Looks like a good opportunity for hiking meet-ups in the area during the week and on weekends. Just FYI.

It's mud season! Did you do much winter hiking? And are you gearing up for the summer hikes? I'm a member of several meetup hiking groups, which have led me to meet some great people and make some truly good new friends. Do you have a favorite trail yet? What's your typical hiking distance? I need to get out more and it would be nice to do so with someone else from the area.

I was able to get out on the trails a few times this winter. With the nicer weather coming, I really want to get out every weekend if possible. One of the ladies on 285 outdoor women organizes a second Saturday of the month hike and that's been a blast. It's fun to try new trails. I still haven't found a favorite yet but the exploration is fun. I've been on hikes ranging from 4 to 10 miles, but I'm game to try any distance. Grrrl, we should try to get together sometime and hike.

I am a fan of the Colorado Mountain Club. They have all sorts of courses, from courses for first time hikers through courses for high altitude mountaineering. It's a great way to meet people that like to do what you do. I lead backcountry ski trips for them and teach in the Telemark Ski School in the winter. The nice thing about the CMC is there are trips pretty much every day of the week.

I have looked at the CMC website a little bit but obviously I need to spend more time looking through it. Thanks for the heads-up, peakwolf.
