It's upon the people of Colorado. And it isn't good as David Kopel explains:

https://pagetwo.completecolorado.com/20 ... rder-bill/

Now I'd love for MakMan, or any other anti-gun progressive, to come here and explain to me and everyone else how no one wants to take your guns away. I will guarantee there will be tremendous abuses of this law and no one will be accountable. Colorado's extremely left government is there to protect you. They're gonna protect the hell outta you.

And when it doesn't work, they're gonna protect you more with even further restrictions on your rights.

Welcome to the next leftist Utopia where only criminals have rights.

This bill is advertised and promoted with a total pack of lies. Once you read the details it becomes obvious that what sound good on the surface, is a total disaster (like socialism) As they say "the devil is in the details."

Red Flag of Doom

Quote:
A critical reading of HB 19-1177 is enough to make any civil libertarian’s stomach churn. Rife with gray areas and opportunities for abuse, this bill, should it become law, will provide the legal precedent for gun confiscation in a state that until recently was known for its rugged frontier individualism.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Ben Franklin

How about giving up 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendment rights? Probably others as well.

I have to wonder. Since it seems folks can challenge the constitutionality of just about anything, if this bill goes into law, can't its constitutionality be challenged as well?

Sure...you can take it to court. How much $$ do you have?

Well if any of us think that there is any other way to slow down the Left's agenda in Colorado's capitol, they we should be given a drug test. :)

The NRA has a good bit of money, including some of mine. I'm almost certain they will find a way to challenge this law if it passes. I don't have a crystal ball, but it's my two cents worth.

The issue will be decided in the USSC if/when the election outcome is changed by this.

Quite doubtful that election outcomes will be affected by Red Flag laws. It's also doubtful the NRA has enough funds to fight these laws in multiple states. Erosion of personal rights will continue.

I'm no lawyer, but based on how I've seen the Left use the court to block almost EVERYTHING that our current President tries to do, there must me SOME way to mount a legal challenge to this infringement on our constitutional rights. Also, the NRA wouldn't necessarily have to fight the issue in every state. They could take on the fight in one state and push it through the court system until it does reach the Supreme Court. There I think the law, if put in effect, would go down in flames.

Of course, it all depends on which "courts" you pick to pursue your litigation. It seems the Left could give us some pointers on this as they have been VERY effective in blocking President Trump from doing almost anything except use the restroom by using the courts.

This is obviously part of this super lefts agenda. Anybody with the ability to think critically knows that the unintended consequences of this bill has the potential to kill hundreds in just a few years. Lets start with if you take all the guns out of a household then if the person it was about does have a psychotic break they can pick up a knife, axe, bat, 2x4 or anything and quietly kill their family and neighbors without the family having a chance to defend themselves or the neighbors having any clue about what is heading their way. Nothing like having your property seized to calm an overwrought person down right? It is a fact that a person in several different mental states have their strength boosted by Adrenalin and the average person would be defenseless. These UN-usefull idiots need to stop looking at the tool and start looking at the people. Easier, cheaper and practical mental health services would be a FAR better use of tax dollars then clogging up the already overburdened court system with continuances, appeals and trials.

Common Sense is so rare these days it qualifies as a superpower.

Progressives earnestly believe that intent is the moral equivalent of doing. They actually believe that it's good enough to pass a law which "means to" solve a problem whether or not it actually ever "does". They don't care about the unintended consequences as long as they had good intentions.
