Hi Everyone-

If you are a groomer or know a groomer with a big heart for helping a homeless dog, we'd be so grateful for a helping hand!

Griffin came to IMHS this morning, and his long, thick coat is filthy and badly matted. Griffin appears to be a Golden Retriever/Chow mix, gold, a senior dog. He seems very sweet, and his matted coat must feel miserable.

Griffin badly needs a bath and brush out to beautify his coat. If we can find a groomer willing to donate the service, we'll gladly give recognition in our Spring newsletter and on our web site for the gift of a grooming service. We'd be so pleased to be able to show off "before and after" photos of Griffin!

Dear Griffin will also need a forever home. If you love big beautiful fuzzy types, come meet Griffy at IMHS....he's here waiting!

I would like to contribute to the cost of his grooming?

I am a dog groomer and I will come in tomorrow morning to groom him. Do you have shampoo of any kind?

OH thank you, everyone! We've got a sponsor for his grooming-- and a million thanks to all who called and messaged to follow up on Griffin's care.

Einsteinsmom- we don't have a tub for big dogs- this was our big challenge in not being able to do this in-house. Thanks so much for the kind offer!

Griffin has a 10am appt with Paws and Claws for tomorrow and THANK YOU to the kind sponsor who is paying his grooming bill!

We reconsidered Griffin's breed combination after doing his temperament test and observing his looks and behavior a little more. We think shepherd/retriever, possibly some chow thrown in for good luck, but he's a sturdy 79 pounds with a big build.

wildGoose2 can vouch for how wonderful he is-- Griffin is the same boy who sat at PCAC for 5 days and never got reclaimed.

We'll look forward to showing off his before and afters!

Muchas, muchas gracias again for all the offers of help...

Marta

Yea! Griffin! absolutely the most wonderful dog! I fell in love with him at first and second and third look! (no, I'm maxed out already) (so's my friend) but he is going to make someone a wonderful companion! He already has basic commands down, which is why I'm surprised that no one claimed him.

Just a point of reference for anyone with foster/rescue dogs waiting for homes: Doggy Dog World Grooming on South Kipling (about 4500 South) grooms them one time for free. They also have a dog rescue.

I can't wait to see Griffin when he is done! He sounds wonderful. I had a Chow/Retriever once...Zeppelin...that's what he looked like when a puppy.

Thnaks for that great tip. Zeppelin--what a terrific name, I bet he lived up to it!

Come see dear Griffin after he's groomed up. By the way, he's lovely and sweet as can be with other dogs. We matched him up with a playmate today and they had a ball in the play yard!

Nothing beats a forever home, though...

I was going to do it for free, too. He could have come over to my house, I have a tub big enough to do him in.

Einsteinsmom- you're amazing...can we call on you again sometime? Better yet, we could use you as volunteer Grooming Associate in the shelter if you can spare an hour or so from time to time. Let us know-- you are a gift to the animals!

Marta, one of your volunteers is my next door neighbor, & I told him that if you ever needed help with grooming or nail trims to let me know. I lost my grooming job right after Christmas. I have been grooming for 27 years (I started in High School) and have done instruction both in a school & privately. I have an interview "down the hill," was supposed to be this afternoon but was changed to Wednesday morning. :praying:
