A few days ago TSAC got an email from Iraq in response to a "snail mail" letter to a soldier whose name we received from a relative.

This put TSAC back in the business of sending comfort and snack items after a period with no units in contact!
We now have a small Marine Special Operations team to which we put 102 pounds of coffee and various snack items in the mail today!

This is RailBuff and BGR in the Bailey Post Office this Saturday morning with 10 boxes headed to Iraq.

This is the text of the email from this unit with restricted information sanitized from the text for security reasons:
Thank you very much for your letter and your offer of support on behalf of TSAC. My team and I would be very appreciative of any support your group is able to offer.

First, to answer some of your questions:
-We are a rather small (~20 man) Marine Special Operations Team deployed to an austere area in Iraq
-No women here
-We do have access to a microwave, and have one each of drip and Keurig coffee makers
-We are pretty sufficient on baby wipes and toiletries
-Most guys try to be pretty health conscious and aren't looking for a lot of candy/junk food

After reading your letter out loud and taking a quick poll of the guys in the team, here is the short list: popcorn, rice cakes, peanut butter, coffee, chewing gum, trail mix/nuts, ramen noodles, and gatorade/other powdered drink mix

Again, we are truly appreciative of any assistance you are able to provide. On behalf of the entire team, thank you very much for reaching out to us.

In addition to these listed items, TSAC also recommends energy bars which are easy to carry into the field in pockets.

If, upon reading this, you are motivated to help out with TSAC supporting this unit, please feel free to drop items listed above in the TSAC box located west of the Aspen Park King Soopers door.
The box is right next to the Blue Rhino propane bottle locker.

If you would prefer to send $$ to help with the postage costs, please send checks payable to: TSAC, P.O. Box 1238, Bailey, CO 80421-1238
None of the volunteers with TSAC receive any compensation.
Other than postage, TSAC may use a small portion of that money to buy highly discounted quality coffee from Boyer's Coffee.
This has been one of the most popular items ever sent to supported units!

Because of the severe draw-down of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has become harder to locate units to support.
TSAC will do the best we can to keep the pipeline of comfort items open as long as possible - WITH YOUR HELP!

Thank you for your support!

Good news that you all found a unit to send items to! I think TSAC does a wonderful service to our military so far from home!
