Wellington Lake is a privately owned reservoir managed for recreation and conservation. The lake is surrounded by National Forest including the Lost Creek Wilderness. Visitors come, mostly in the summer, to camp and enjoy the lake. During the fall and early winter, we conduct fire mitigation work on the forested areas of the property. This work entails marking, felling, limbing, and processing trees. We are assembling a small team of experienced individuals to work 4 10 hour shifts per week with the goal of completing the project in 8 to 10 weeks.

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

-Ability to safely fell and limb trees using a chainsaw.

-Knowledge of chainsaw cleaning and maintenance.

-Working 10 hour shifts of extremely physical work.

-Working in all types of weather conditions including rain, sleet, snow, etc.

-Our ideal candidate would have experience using and maintaining heavy machinery (skid steer, tractor, chipper).

-Using a skidding wench to extract boles.

-Working as a member of a team, with a strong emphasis on safety.

-General knowledge of forestry including the ability to identify mistletoe or pine bark beetle infested trees.

-Any knowledge or experience with machinery maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.

Hourly Rate: Starting pay is $15/hour. Strong, qualified, experienced applicants may receive higher compensation.

Dates of season: The season will run from approximately early October to early December based on our progress and weather conditions.

*Please note, no housing is available on site at the lake. There may be an opportunity to camp on the property during the work assignment. Camping would be primitive with no hook-ups and rustic vault toilets.

*Wellington Lake is located approximately 11 miles south east of Bailey, Colorado, a small, rural community. Short term housing might be available, but would need to be organized by the applicant.

*Hiring is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening and background check.

Job Type: Temporary

Salary: $15.00 to $16.00 /hour
