Thank you for all these ideas. Going to mull over the shock one vs. putting up additional fencing to raise the fence and angle it in.
Know anyone that does that kind of work let me know.

I was warned that the dog I adopted was a jumper AND a digger. So I put up a 4' tall fence in a half circle against the garage, then bought one of those tie-out cables that was shorter than the radius of the half circle. Imagine her dismay when she discovered she could run back and forth and bark all she wanted, but was unable to reach the fence at any point. After she figured that out, I put out a shelter for her--against the house, so she couldn't leap frog from it. That setup worked extremely well for more than 8 years until she passed away from cancer a few months ago.

We took pop cans, put a penny in it, taped hole, hung on fence spaced no more than 5ft. apart. When the dog hits the fence, it makes a clanging noise which the dog's not sure what's going on & backs off. Hope it works for you.

Mighty Mouse--this is off the main subject but a similar idea works great for keeping deer out of the garden. I have that 4' tall fencing around my garden, then tie grocery store plastic bags at five-foot intervals. The bags rustle in the wind or when bumped. They used to scare my horses to death so I guess they sound like predators rustling in the grass. The horses got used to it but the deer NEVER do. Sometimes the wind makes the bags pop out like heads, and that still scares me to death!!
