As an asthma person, I sure feel for Miko. I haven’t had an asthma attack for sometime, it was triggered from being allergic to animals and I had many back in the late 90s, early 2000s. Eucalyptus is so helpful for breathing, wonder if that would also work for cats. I so agree with you on no intrusive stuff for Miko right now and hopefully never.

Is it possible that something new could be triggering her asthma attacks? Since she hasn’t had an attack all the years you’ve had her and now these have happened- it could be anything new, stress, scents, emotions, etc. edit to add: Sorry, all started due to the congestion and that is so hard on asthma- which means she will get better, just keep thinking positive.

I am so glad she is home with you as that is the best thing for her. Just sit with her and totally relax holding her in your arms/lap thinking peaceful thoughts is so helpful.

Hoping she stays comfortable and her breathing improves and stays that way.

thanks, Gia...
she's had "attacks" the dry cough. When she was first diagnosed, I thought it was just hair balls. She coughs from time to time, but this was deep congestion. It responded the first time to Clavamox, but not this last time.

She is making a little bit of noise, but as long as she is breathing comfortably through her nose, I am good. I am in contact with the Internal Medicine Dept at VRCC and Doc Palmini as Sano.

Just read this thread. Haven't been here lately. I remember when you first got this beautiful little girl and her claws had grown into her pads. What a great mom she got when you adopted her! I'm up here in WY where they just kill cats with problems. So glad you were able to find a place to work with and help her. Sending positive waves your way and Miko's!

Thank you for remembering. I have not had the guts to post the update as it is not a happy ending. Miko took a turn on Sunday and went back into ER. We let Miko go Monday morning. She had been in ER twice in under a week and a final diagnosis of a cancerous tumor in her esophagus explained a lot in her drastic changes from good to bad. It was time. I was with her. I know this was Miko's time to leave and we did it with love and compassion. The house seems emptier without her loving sweet soul. I have the most wonderful memories and will hold those dear.

This was first picture taken of Miko when I brought here home from IMHS in December 2008. She was found outside in Buena Vista and in 3 different shelters for over a year when I went and snatched her up.

I am so so sorry, Angela, but I am so happy that she found you back in 2008, because I am most certain you gave her the best years of her life. May she be resting peacefully in a beautiful place.

I am sad to hear that she is gone. You did so much to help her and she was loved. Cancer, such a terrible disease. My little Siamese mix died last year from cancer, surgery just did not get it all. Yes, I know how empty the house feels, you keep feeling their presence but when you look, they are not there.
I hope your heart heals in time because I know missing her is very hard on you.

Sweet baby. It was time for that last act of love.

I am so sorry to hear that Miko is not longer with you on this earth. May she be free of all pain and breathing problems as she passes over and into the Rainbow Bridge.

Three different shelters for over a year? You literally saved her life and gave her one of love, comfort and stability. Up until you got her, she may have never known the gentle touch of a human being. You showed her love. What greater gift is there?
