It is a tough decision to seek help to end a pet's suffering. I have struggled with this issue too. I key on what I perceive as the quality of life the pet is experiencing. But I give lots of time to make sure it's the right thing to do. Having watched my wife die of a horrible melanoma, the last 8 days without food or water (she died of cancer, but dehydration was the proximal cause) I can say that being able to assist the pets we love at the right time is a gift to them.

It is the greatest, selfless thing we can give them.

I have found evaluation lists like this to help deal with the guilt often involved. For the last 12 months of Kiana's life, she had become a terrible mess. At that time, I had to be devoted to Steve 24/7. I still feel horribly guilty about her. :(

Solidude, I can't imagine what an overwhelming sense of loss you are going through. :rose: :(
