Mother [female dogs] with a new litter eat the feces and urine from their puppies. In fact, licking by the mother actually stimulates the pups to urinate or defecate. The mom typically does this up until the pups start weaning. Once the poop includes dog food, I guess it's too nasty for her! Up until that time, keeping care of a litter of pups is relatively easy, 'cause mom does most of the clean-up. But once weaning starts, it gets nasty!

The only thing our golden retriever ever retrieved for us was a decomposing bird -- gull or duck - something fairly large -- that he found when we let him off leash on SF Bay one time. Nasty! He was so proud.

Well, nasty or not - I love my Daisy girl! She is the center of our lives and we adore almost everything she does. If she needs to go out in the middle of the night - she will jump on our heads and kisses to wake us up. Oh well................................

:barf: Thank GOD for Pampers!

I Love my Fool none-the-less... just couldn't believe what I was witnessing last night! He kills me! Today while I was raking the property... I saw him trying to climb up a tree to get Mr. Squirrel, he is so goofy!

Mythbusters showed that dog mouths are filthy. Not surprising considering what they eat and lick.

I had a dog that loved to run in a field where there was a pony. Charlie would run and hit the tops of pony poop piles to knock the dried poop off. Then he would roll in it and eat it. Who knows why, but he had great fun. Oh, and he was white, so at least I knew when he had been popping pony poop! :)

Think it is just for the joy of it. I've been told by several vets that it has nothing to do with dietary needs. They just like to eat everything & anything.

And then there are those dogs who actually CAN climb trees! 8O

These are real photos taken of Tara at our old house. She did this on a regular basis! Of course pine trees don't have the same low slung trunks as maples (as a rule) so she is most disappointed that she can't climb the trees up here to get to her squirrel buddies! So she just sits at the base of the tree and watches them now & whines.
