"A Parable of Immortality" (sorry, I don't know the author)
I am standing at the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze, and heads for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs, like a speck of white cloud, just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with one another. Then, someone at my side says, "There she goes."
Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large, in hull and mast and spar, as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says, "There she goes," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "There she comes!"

She hasn't left you, only arrived on the other shore...swallow hard and take comfort she at Home in loving arms.

Oh, NO!! That's terrible news!! I am so very sorry, Rav and ColoradoKnights.

It is very easy to blame ourselves when a pet dies, but they understand we're only human, and know we do our very best for them. They are more understanding and forgiving of us than we are of ourselves.

You guys gave her a great home and comforted her when she lost her owner. Now she's comforting them and bringing them happiness, again.

I'm sure you're already familiar with the Rainbow Bridge, but here's an especially nice version of it:

http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html .

I envision myself crossing the Bridge someday, and all the pets I've lost over the years, who are "supposed" :) to wait at the other side, are so happy to see me, they rush across to greet me half way.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your tragic loss. What a beautiful girl she is!

Lisa

I am so sorry for your loss. When you first posted her pictures back in September, I fell in love with her--I can't have cats, my daughter is allergic, but nothing beats a lovable kitty; and she was--you can just tell.

You are in my thoughts...the loss of a pet is devastating. I am so sorry.

Thank you all so very much for the thoughts and prayers. It's pretty sad at our house tonight, so think of us. We know that the vet did everything possible for her. We want to thank them as well.
We know that Raincloud is in a better place, we just miss the little furrball so very much.

Thanks again,
Rav & Coloradoknights

Aspenleaf...........what caring words you write. You made me cry when you said all the pets we've lost will be waiting on the other side......You have a way with words. Thanks.

My thoughts prayers and tears are with you! Raincloud is over the rainbow bridge now, and in comfort and as you said, probably reunited with previous owner.

By the way, what a beautiful name, Raincloud!
