I have a young mini horse who will lean up against the gate with his entire body and try to close it when you are trying to open it at feeding time...and I have a cat that will try and "slap" the dog when she walks by!

One of my dogs would go BONKERS during a thunder/lightning storm. I think he had an abusive owner previously that left him outside all the time, but anyway, he would go so nuts that he would knock everything over, he would chew stuff to shreds, that poor lil guy was TERRIFIED. He would get himself so tangled up in the stuff he would knock over, we would have a hard time sometimes getting him free. Our solution for him was an herbal pill vet recommended which we would give him before a storm would come. We knew when one was coming because he would start to act really nervous!

I had a Samoyed who was afraid of thunder. I cleared out the bottom of the linen closet in the bathroom (darkest, quietest room in the house), and she would hide in there. My mother had a German Shepherd who would hide in the bathtub.

I now have two dogs -- Icy is very quiet, good, cleaver; Shiloh is VERY high energy, but knows he's bottom man on the totem pole (even though he could break a man's arm bone on the first try).

Any time Icy is doing something wrong, Shiloh tells on him by barking historically! It's the one time he's boss over Ice, and he LOVES it! Icy never gets away with anything!

When Shiloh wants to go out the front door when he shouldn't, Icy snaps at him and backs him up away from the door.

They police each other a lot.

Very 8) idea for a fun thread, Solo!

When there is only one bone to chew, and one dog has it, the other dog will jump up and start barking at the window. Thus ensuring that he gets the now dropped bone because first dog had to drop it to see what was outside.

Years ago, we had a dear little cat named Faith, we got her from a shelter in Jersey that put out a plea for emergency adoptions. They had to have their numbers reduced by a certain time or they would be forced to euthanize the most ill or least desirable ones. They were only allowed to have so many or they would be shut down. We went in looking for a dog, and had to go through a corridor with sick and anti social cats stacked up in cages against a wall and this little thing stuck her paw out as I went by and tapped me on the shoulder. I asked about her and was told her name was Faith...she came home with us that day. She was around 2, weighed 4 pounds, was emaciated, had an upper respiratory infection, ear mites, worms, fleas, lice. Needed eye salve, nose drops and pills, worm medication and a dip. $300 and not spayed yet....sweetest cat I ever had.

Faith had a severe jut-jaw. Her lower jaw came out past her upper jaw and it made it difficult for her to drink. No matter what kind of dish I put water in, she would paw at it until she dumped it so she could lap water off the flat surface of the floor. We didn't know her history but she apparently survived in her difficult short life by doing this to containers to get water. That worked for her one drink but then she and the other cat, Madame, the Great Danushka went without water all day and I had a soggy throw rug. I solved this problem by buying a weighted dog dish and happily realized she couldn't dump it. She would paw and scratch and dig at it and finally dip her little face in, snort a little water but figured out how to get a drink. The pawing and scratching continued as a ritual before drinking each and every time she wanted water up until we had to put her to sleep. She developed an inoperable brain tumor, eventually lost her vision and was starting to become confused. We put her to rest before she had any personality changes which, according to the vet, were very likely. My daughter loved this little soul and took her to bed with her each night and fell asleep to the sound of Faith purring. As tough as it was on my girl to put her friend to rest, I knew she would be devastated if Faith became aggressive or distant and I wanted her to be remembered as she was. We wanted her to end as sweetly as she came to us. Only six years, but treasured every one. We still have the dish with her little scratch marks.
During her life, we took on an abandoned kitten (who is now 10) and Faith took care of her, we called her The Baby. Danushka had no use for this kitten. Pure disdain. Faith was tolerated because she was an adult, but this kitten, ugh....Faith was followed by The Baby like a little shadow and we soon realized that the pawing at the water dish had been passed on to Baby. It was a learned behavior that Baby does to this day, even though she has no physical deformity of her jaw. A pair of brother/sister kittens came later and once in awhile the sister, Bug will paw the water dish. She learned it from Baby. It's a tender reminder of Faith. A little gift I get from time to time when a kitty is thirsty.

Lets see where do I start.

Smiegal my cat will sit on the back of our kitchen chairs and smack at anyone or anything that walks by. He also likes to play chase, I will run from one room to another and he will chase me. He also will walk right up to our husky while he is sleeping and start punching away at his face. Koda (husky) usually jumps up and looks at us like, " do something, did you see that". This usually earns Smiegal a time out in the bathroom so he can calm down. As soon as someone is done taking a shower he will jump into the tub and roll around on the wet surface and then go pounce on our other cat Miss Mia, she hates this because he messes up her fur.

My sisters doberman has been know to have very bad gas, every time the room would start smelling someone would run and grab the air freshener, Jobe learned the routine and now will jump up and go stand by the air freshener and just stare at it. That's when we know to hold our breath and clear the room. He is also obsessed with lighters, he will sit and stare at one for hours just shacking and drooling over it.

I have several more quirky pets, maybe I will share some more stories as I think of them.

i used to have a guinea pig that would "kill" his food, we would give him a carrot, and he would throw it into the airand hit it against his cage intil he thought he thought it was "dead", he also used to get on top of his house and squeal loudly when he was hungry, and he also was my alarm clock, as mom would wake him up, then he would want food, and yell, until i got up and fed him LOL

I miss nugget

My beagle, Evil Buddy, tries to make sweet love to one of my cats, Jub Jub, who doesn't seem to mind. This happens about twice a month. The strangest thing is that Evil Buddy is female. Go figure, interspecies lesbian activity and I don't have a video camera.

This is my late Samoyed, Frosty. I was having a lot of family over for Christmas dinner, and, of course, she was in heat. I had made her nice little pants to wear, and decided to decorate some just for Christmas day (apologies that they are both bum shots):

Here's what her side looked like, with Icy as a puppy (she HATED him:

And her face:
