Especially if they are giving you a second vac.
My first pneumonia vac was not too bad but my second one caused my immune system to react badly. 24 hrs later my previously injured knee was swollen twice it's size. For months joint after joint became painful, hair loss, aches etc.
I reported it to the vac. reporting system and found very few people have any reaction. But I was one of the blessed. You are likely just fine to go, but please check with your dr.

I work for an awesome company. They have been providing the vaccine to everyone and their spouse. I don't know where or how they have been getting the vaccine but they have had enough for everyone that wanted it. I get my second dose in a week or two. The lump in the arm and extreme soreness is so common as to be expected. Interestingly, every single man here got flu like symptoms for 48 hours in addition to the sore arm. Most of the women had the sore arm but not one of us had the flu like symptoms. Weird.

Interesting, I had extreme soreness and lump at the shot location for about a week, but never got the flu like symptoms. Pharmacist said that if you didn't have a reaction to the first shot you probably would not have a problem with the second shot except for the soreness.
:)

Has anyone found a location for these, yet?

My second shot was very similar to the first. No flu like symptoms, no lump this time, mildly sore for about 3 days.

My name finally came up on Conifer Med's list after seven months. I go today. She said the shortage will continue another year or so.

Of course Medicare won't cover it  so it will be $200 for each of two shots taken two months apart. Steve had shingles a few years ago and it was truly awful.

We waited from late Feb to mid August for our first shots. Insurance covered mine, but not my husband’s. We didn’t have much more then sore arms & a little tiredness. Hope yours goes well.

I got the shingles vaccine when I was on Humira - same sort of thing. No bad reaction just soreness at the site of the injection.

I found out that Kaiser covers these as preventive care, so I'm on the waiting list. :)

My Rheumatologist wanted me to stop Enbrel 2 weeks before the shot, but it wasn't possible to do being on the waiting list, so went ahead and got it anyway.

I'll be honest though - my dermatologist doctor said that I should not get the shingles vaccine BUT my family doctor said to go ahead and it was given in his office. He provided me with tons of links from Mayo Clinic and more that stated that not only is it ok, it SHOULD be given so I did it. When I told my derm doctor, she said, well it's been 3 months and you're fine.............it's good you got it.

It turned out just fine - glad that I did it too!

I barely felt the needle go in. I have a fairly sore arm and my normal aches and pains are worse, but I am confident that will go away today. She said to wait 2-6 months to get the second one, but it's better to get it closer to two months.
