I experienced a serious side effect from a cortisone shot I received back in January and have been on Disability since then. I highly recommend that you take this seriously and call your doctor immediately. This is nothing to not take seriously. If you are still looking for a great surgeon, I highly suggest you see Dr. Kenneth Pettine he is up in Fort Collins but he is the best surgeon IMHO that I have ever seen and he doesn't mess around. I received two other opinions from two other surgeons recommended on here and their recommendations were well off base and they didn't spend three hours going over my entire spine and discussing my options. Even though he up in Fort Collins he is well worth the drive and is the most professional surgeon I have ever dealt with. If I had gone with the other surgeons their suggestions wouldn't have helped me. He also is well known for stem cells and you may have that option. In my case, I need three new disc since I am not a candidate for stem cells on the cervical and spine but am a candidate for fibromyalgia. Good luck and please call your doctor ASAP.

the posts about my reaction was two weeks ago and the itching only lasted 3 days. My shoulder is better than before but I am sure that is because of the shot. I go back in mid July to see about next steps. If not improved enough, then MRI and look at options.

My husband has had '2' shoulder replacements. His doctor is Dr. R. Straley located in Golden. My husband was back to work on light duty at Coors in three weeks and has full use of both shoulders. Highly recommend him!

Glad all is ok. Yes, the injection is only temporary like medication. Good luck with your shoulder. :)

If your looking for one of the top 100 orthopedic surgeons in the USA, contact Dr. Kenneth Pettine. He's in Johnstown but well worth the drive. He also has a stem cell institute and he may be able to heal your shoulder via stem cells rather than surgery. I just had an IV stem cell procedure there for chronic pain and hope to be pain free within three months. Prayers for your shoulder. I feel your pain.

No matter what, I hope you stick with Dr. Reister.......I'm absolutely certain he will recommend the most appropriate procedure for your shoulder.

My doctor is Dr Reister. I am not looking for a doctor. That is why I changed the subject on this thread. :) Now, I am just telling the tale of my journey in hopes it could help others.

I appreciate your story! I just saw an orthopedic surgeon last week after firing an osteopath for extremely bad advice and refusal to treat my herniated disc/sciatica in a reasonable manner. (The previous specialist I had seen said it was absolutely impossible for me to have sciatica and refused to pursue that avenue, at which point I fired the specialist... of course it is EXACTLY what I have.) I was so happy to have someone tell me that yes I SHOULD have an epidural on my herniated disc, WHY hadn't I had one when my sciatica is still un-manageable after 4 years??, and YES fusing my discs (what the fired osteopath said was the only solution) would have not only been bad, but probably would have "ruined" my life... his words not mine.

Let's ride this medical merry-go-round together! :-)

I, too, recommend Dr. Martin Boblick at the Steadman-Hawkins clinic.

I went for my MRI today

HOWEVER.... I TOTALLY FREAKED OUT AND COULD NOT DO IT. She started to get me in there and I opened my eyes and the walls were an inch from my nose.... OH NO... pushed the panic button before she even got me in to my waist. She rescheduled me for this afternoon at Red Rocks. HOWEVER... the drive back up here was treacherous in all the rain and standing water, so my blood pressure never went down. I am a mess and there is NO WAY I am driving back down in this weather and arriving calm enough to try this again.

I have a new appt at the Red Rocks facility on Friday. They have an "open bore" machine that is half the length and much mo bigger
