My husband, who has Medicare, needs a local Primary Care physician so I called Conifer Medical Center where he has never been a patient. They have two new doctors and are taking new Medicare patients now so I was able to make an appointment for him. I have no idea how good the new doctors are so cannot make any kind of recommendation.

But, if you're on Medicare and need a local Primary care physician, you might want to try Conifer Medical Center.

Clarification:
Conifer Medical Center is NOT taking new Medicare patients at this time. We do take new Medicare if you are currently a patient of ours and you change to Medicare, if you are the spouse of a current patient of ours, if you are a former patient of Dr Linn's at CMFM and change to Medicare. There are also other extenuating circumstances where we may accept an individual patient that has Medicare. We are not "generally" taking new Medicare patients at this time. If you have questions, please contact our billing department at 303-647-5269, 5270 or 5271. Thank you.
Theresa

Sorry about that roobee, that's not what I understood when I made my husband's appointment. The person I spoke to did not say there were extenuating circumstances to his getting an appointment. Thank you for clarifying this.

This is evidence of a big problem in America. I hope that when my wife needs Medicare (less than 5 years) and less then 10 for me that it will still be possible to get medical care in our community! There has long been an issue with accepting MediCAID but not taking MediCARE is scary since maybe 20% of the population needs it? I guess you now have to be very careful when switching or choosing new medical care options!

Unfortunately, reimbursement rates for physicians who accept Medicare have been going down for years, so many have stopped accepting the program. Small practices are probably feeling this pinch more severely than larger groups.

Conifer Medical Center has 2 doctors and several PA-c's that are now open to taking new Medicare patients. If you would like an appointment. Please call the office 303-647-5300

Thanks, but after trying twice, second time when Rocky Mtn. Health Insurance asked me to tell you that I was on Medicare but through Rocky Mtn. not just medicare. You still turned me down. I was so frustrated as my car is ancient and I hate to go down the hill. I finally gave up and went to a doctor down the darn hill.
