I recommend COSTCO as they have free comprehensive hearing tests and their hearing aids are state of the art, reasonably priced and have been highly rated by consumer surveys. You DO NOT have to be a COSTCO member to utilize the hearing tests or buy the hearing aids.

There is a device being offered called a BAHA Bone Attached Hearing Aid. Look it up on Google. Best advice is actually go to a Doctor listed under Ear Nose and Throat Specialists for proper diagnosis of your problem. This new device can be tried first through the Doctor to see if you like it.

I agree that seeing a qualified Audiologist (preferably part of an ENT group) is the best place to start. COSTCO has Audiologists (and good ones), but that is only part of the process to get the best diagnosis & solution.

My brothers & I owned a laboratory providing custom ear pieces to the hearing health industry for over 30 years. We've worked with thousands of Audiologists all over the US. There are many types of hearing loss and nearly as many solutions. It is critical to get a good diagnosis and understand the recommended solutions.

i've been using denver ear associates forever. and, they accept medicaid and work w/ division of vocational rehab. a far cry from who i just tried out. i highly recommend AGAINST going to park county audiology, closest is in fairplay. no respect, no input from you allowed, and they treat you like dirt. the new guy training (to be stationed in buena vista office) nearly blew out my eardrum during his fumbling hearing test. i went there to try someone different, but i'm going bak to DEA when i can afford an upgrade. hampden & elati, https://denverear.com/

I agree that you should see an audiologist rather than a hearing aid dispenser which you will find at Costco. The audiologist can diagnose your specific type of hearing loss and recommend the appropriate solution. There are many types of hearing loss and different treatments depending on the type of loss. Denver Ear Associates and Rocky Mountain Ear are two of the best clinics in the area. Here's a good website that has some basic information - www.iwanttohear.com - along with a clinic finder tool.

I went to Denver Ear Associates for several years. They were good in regards to interacting with their patients however I started out with their very best audiologist and was slowly passed from one audiologist to another finally ending up with an intern. I felt that they were "demoting" me each time I was transferred because each audiologist I was turned over to was lower in ranking that the previous one. In addition, instead of setting my hearing aids correctly they just kept increasing the volume to the point that I felt everyone that talked to me was screaming. I finally changed audiologists and am now going to the Hearing Rehab Center. At HRC I see the top audiologist and they have set my hearing aids correctly.

sorry to hear that NZ. i just request my gal each time and no problem. my first audio got married & left, but has since returned. meanwhile i've stuck w/ my 2nd one cuz she's very good. she reprograms/tweaks me ea time i need it to keep me going until i can get an upgrade. this she does even tho mine is long since outdated & obsolete. they keep the software for the old gizmos as long as they hav the patients that wear them.

best of luck dogworld!
