I remember seeing one of those billboards on 6th avenue in Denver. Try that "refreshing drive" on a Friday afternoon in the summer and you'd wish you were on I70. What's really sad about that article is that it really doesn't even say anything about 285; it's pretty much ignored. CDOT's focus is always 70, 25, and 36, not 285 unless people are dying.

Thanks for reminding me that we're only about 2 months away from the massive 285 weekender traffic that makes me feel like a prisoner in my own home......can't wait.

I ski Summit County exclusively so I take 285 and Hoosier Pass from Bailey. My talks on the chairlifts reveal more and more people are using this route from the S & SW suburbs rather than chance I-70 traffic. It's not a 'secret' anymore.

Highway 285 is the only route to take to the High Country in my opinion vs. I-70.
Unfortunately if/when CDOT implements a toll-lane Westbound more and more people will take Highway 285.
No doubt #285 is much more scenic.
I feel for those in Park County who work and live and commute to Summit County will have to fight the traffic to and from work with more and more congestion on Hoosier Pass.

I gave up skiing years ago, because of traffic at THAT time, and because of expense.

It's only doubled or tripled since then. No thanks. Horses in the wilderness or backcountry for me.

I even got stuck on the tiny road that takes off from Schaffer's Crossing & ends at the country store. Trailers, bikes, rafts, OMG! Everyone knows the darn short cut now so we can't save time there either! I have gone way, way down to Pine Grove to get home, no one backed up there but a loooong way around. The only answer is stay home and some weekends I don't appreciate that much.

Also am downhill from 285- so much for smog free air up here as the many sit and sit in a line with engines running.

CDOT already has plans in ready for 285 but the Federal funding is not being made available to do it. People need to contact their representatives and make a fuss, maybe some of the infrastructure money the President talked about might be used on 285, I have only heard about widening I-70. CDOT needs the Federal funding so that is who you need to be writing to.

When I look at a map, 285 is the only other highway going west other than I70 from the Denver area. With the population growth, sadly, it is inevitable traffic will continue to grow.

I won't even consider voting for the sales tax increase for roads unless there is substantial money for 285 in the planning.

Table 1 ... Page 86 ... 20 years from now speculation has no curb appeal ... Feel so sorry for the generations having to endure growth & change that many of us won't even recognize.
