Now, many a persons ask about how Pinecam was founded. More even wondered but were too afraid so they didn't say nothin'.

Pinecam Part I

A long, long time ago, a couple men decided they had a hankerin' for some mushrooms. They looked high, and low and discovered a place called the Colorado Territory. Park County looked to be the place they'd been a wantin for many a mile.

So they headed out. It was a long journey. Suddenly, one cried out, "Hey! I think I saw me a mushroom tree"!

They'd heard about pigs that could sniff out mushrooms. They decided by a majority vote they must be smarter than pigs. They brought a feller they met at the Pueblo Fort. They also got a mule to haul their bounty and just incase he could smell them. They started diggin' for the precious find.

But purdy soon word got out.

But then, wouldn'cha know...

Part II comin' soon.

Unfortunately the forest people resented the pilferage.

The kind Ute Indians living in the area tried to help the mushroom hunters, but the newcomers were not smart. They kept shooting the mushrooms for target practice. "Hey, I got one, Samuel! Oops, sorry, that was your big toe." Finally the Ute women brought mushrooms to the newcomer's Easter ceremony.....

History buffs have some recollection that a fire in '96 caused great danger to not only the mushrooms but much more. It's rumored that some folks had a hankerin' and banded together and wandered into the unknown to find a solution to the issue. Purdy soon the word got out that more help was needed......and it may have mushroomed at that point.

Everyone rushed south in search of those 'shrooms. And an amazing thing happened. In a place called Cripple Creek, where people sang "Goin' upta Cripple Creek, going 'round the bend," a bearded guy named George mistakenly ate a magic mushroom and started shooting at the ground again. "Mushrooms!" he yelled. Everyone piled on top of each other to get the best pickins, but it was George who found something shiny--gold! All the Bailey newcomers moved south and started digging for gold and became known as old=timers (as in "pan for gold with an old timer"). The forest Utes had no one to trade with, so they moved to Conifer where they taught other Newcomers how to make arts and crafts, which they still sell around Christmas time. The whole community decided they needed a way to identify mushrooms and how to find those elusive gold nuggets (rumored to be 500 pounds or more). Meanwhile... ;)

Meanwhile, they decided to call in the wisest and strongest shroomers to handle the Forest People. Yup, it was.... the womenfolk.

They knew exactly how to scare off the Forest People to the faraway land of FB. They even hired a man to do the work and brought their dog to play.

Yeah, the voles came here from Tennessee during the 1890's mushroom rush. They moved here from Tennessee where they were known as the "Voleunteers".
They were imported because they could burrow and find the best mushrooms before anybody else could. Then they went wild and burrow for fun.
